centre parting a/w 2014
Switching how you part your hair is one of the easiest ways to change your look and the Centre Parting was one of the key trends at the autumn / winter 2014 catwalk shows. And whilst it’s great to take inspiration from the catwalks, you certainly don’t need to be a super model to pull off this trend.

Often when we think of a centre parting we imagine long, straight hair, perhaps like we saw at the Chanel and Balmain shows (below).  Here the hair was separated with a severe parting, pulled back into a tight ponytail and kept smooth and glossy.

But the centre parting can work equally well with some volume and waves and with short hair too. Kate Hudson’s face framing, mid length layers look fabulous with a gentler centre parting and some gorgeous soft waves. Try KMS Add Volume root and body lift to add volume at the crown.

Again, she has gone for a less severe parting than you’d see on the catwalks, making it a much easier look to pull off.

If you have long hair but still want to try something a bit softer, how about teaming a centre parting with another of this season’s favourites, the braid?

Or alternatively, follow actress Lea Michelle’s lead and combine a centre parting with a blunt fringe and loose waves. centre parted hairstyle with blunt fringe

So as you can see, there are plenty of interpretations of the centre parting that work well, away from the catwalk. And although they’re shown here worn by celebrities, these are definitely looks that will look stunning for every day and away from the red carpet too!
