When to decide on your wedding day hair?
Every bride wants to create the perfect look for the big day – one where all the elements work beautifully together. So once you’ve chosen the style of your dress it’s a good time to start thinking about your wedding day hair.
You may need to grow your hair to achieve the look you want so it definitely pays to start planning well ahead of time – ideally we would recommend at least six months. However, if you’re running a bit behind, don’t panic, just get booked in for a consultation as soon as you can.
Where to start?
Begin by collecting together photos from magazines and the internet of the type of styles you like and the sort of look you want to achieve. It’s always useful to have a couple of different styles so that your stylist can recommend those which will suit you the best.
Next, make sure you’ve got some pictures of the dress you have chosen. That way your stylist can see the colour, style and importantly the neckline of the dress, all of which could influence your choice of hairstyle.
When you meet with your stylist at your initial consultation, show her the pictures you have gathered and also tell her about any theme you are thinking of, as well as the setting for the ceremony and reception. They can all have an influence on the style of hair you might choose. Together you can start narrowing down your ideas to a few styles you would like to try out at the trial.
The ideal time for your hair trial is about two months before the wedding. Any sooner and your hair may have changed before the big day – especially if you’re growing it. Any later and you might end up putting yourself under unnecessary stress!
Your hair trial is your opportunity to try out your shortlist of your two or three favourite styles. If you are planning to wear a veil or any hair accessories try and bring them along with you and you might want to bring your mum or bridesmaid with you too for a second opinion.
Keep a Record
Take photos of the finished results so you have something to refer back to. If you can’t make up your mind on the day of your trial which style to go for, the photos will help you decide in the coming days. But make sure you let your stylist know your decision so she can be prepared and everything runs smoothly on the day of the wedding.
We know how much there is to do when planning a wedding and that your hair is only one element, so get that initial consultation booked in as soon as you can and that’ll be another thing ticked off the list!
